Issue for the ETC 2015

For some of you who have read what is happening on the Warhammer forum, you may have noticed that there are many issues concerning the organisation of the ETC 2015.

First of all, we will all agree that this was the worse ETC ever organised (albeit the most expensive).
They had promised in their bids:
- air conditioning
- free water
- service at the table for drinks
- pizza and barbecues
- parties and live music every day
- ... the list goes on

(And that's what we pay for)

On top of that, we were asked to provide extra money here and there because the orgas were complaining they were losing money. However, it appears that during the captain meeting, the host orga admitted he couldn't distribute water at store price because we had already paid for bar stocks with ETC money and they had to be sold to avoid losses... and at the same time, all profits from the bar were going to the organiser's pockets (the bars were runned by his own company, with no profit going to the ETC). Basically, we have paid the drinks a first time with our money, and then we were asked to pay for them again at a huge mark-up (the beer provided was the cheapest of all czech republic, and water was 3-4x more expensive that in a supermarket. Even the water from the vendor machine at the entrance was cheaper!)

There has been a lot of complaints, and some teams asked for a refund and entered a paypal dispute. Then, the host orgas came to say sorry but could not give an appropriate answer and just say "wait a month so we can provide all the paperwors". Basically, in a month it won't be possible to enter a paypal dispute over the fees anymore (see where he is heading).

In the light of all this information, I entered a paypal dispute for the fees we paid for the ETC. I don't want us to be the nice guys and I believe that if indeed there has been misbehaviour from the host orga (or even illegal actions... I don't believe anything that happened in the bars was recorded), then we need to stand up to avoid these kind of thing in the future.

We organised an ETC in one of the most expensive town in Europe (Montreux 2011) and just avoided a tremedous loss. We proposed an ETC with food for 30 euros. I want this non-sense to stop.

If the explanations that will be provided by the orgas seem alright, then I will drop the paypal dispute.

The lack of AC was one of the worst things.
Raphael's faint would probably not have happened if the venue was at 25°C instead of 37°C...

The combination no AC + price on water quite high are close to the scam

Especially because in the budget there is clearly a line for the AC... Therefore we paid for it ! (Among other things).

The organiser responded to my PayPal dispute only by saying he is very sorry. I told him we expect full explanations under short delays or we will move on in the procedure.
